Privacy Policy

AIESEC Life, Inc. Online Privacy Policy

Protecting your online privacy is important to us, as it is important to you. We hope that the following statements will help you understand how AIESEC Life collects, uses and safeguards the personal information that you provide us on our
website.

What information do we collect? When people are just browsing our website, we do not collect any information from them. We do not keep track of the pages an individual visits or how long one browses. We do not use “cookies.” Therefore, you may visit our site anonymously. However, if you enter a chat area or post to a bulletin board, we may collect your email address. If you answer a survey or register for our site, we may collect any information that you have voluntarily provided.

What we do with the information we gather? Any information that you voluntarily provide, we intend to retain. When you register on our site, we may collect such personal information as your name address, email address, telephone numbers, local committee (and year) for further contacts with you. We may use your email address to send you newsletters, surveys or other notices of interest. We may use your information to improve our web site, as we constantly strive to improve our website offerings based on the information and feedback that we receive from you.

Why do we collect personal information? We intend to publish this type of personal information–see the previous paragraph–in our on-line directory. If we feel that it is appropriate, we may share this personal information within the AIESEC family, namely with AIESEC US, Inc., local committees in your geographic area, local committees at the universities and colleges that you attended, and AIESEC Life groups in your geographic area (known as “hubs”.)

Controlling and protecting your personal information. We intend to respect your privacy. So, if you would feel more comfortable with limiting access to personal information about you that we collect, we will honor your wishes. For example, with our on-line directory, we intend to restrict access to the AIESEC Life family, that is, to our officers,  directors, employees, hub leaders and other AIESEC Life members and the staff of AIESEC US, Inc.

What are our “opt-in” and “opt-out” policies? People have different privacy concerns. Our goal is to give you meaningful choices. The on-line directory will list alumni’s name, local committees and graduation years. If you desire us to limit access to any of this information in the on-line directory, we will accommodate your wishes through an “opt-out” process using an on-line link that we will provide. Those alumni who want to be included in the on-line directory will also be given a chance to “opt-in,” so they may show more extensive personal details about themselves, such as contact  information, AIESEC history, employers, industries, etc. Importantly, you may make changes to your access preferences at any time.

Do we disclose any information to outside parties? We do not sell, trade, transfer or loan our mailing lists. We do not sell your profile data–not to anyone, not marketing firms, not researchers, no one. We do not share your personally- identifiable information with any other non-AIESEC groups, organizations, or businesses, whether non-profit or for-profit, for any reason whatsoever without your express consent. This, however, does not include trusted third parties who assist us in operating our website or conducting our operations, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may disclose your information as required by law, or when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, and/or to comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, subpoena, or other legal process served on us.

Links to other websites. Occasionally, we may include links to other website of interest. However, once you have used these links to leave our site, we will not have any control over that website. These sites have separate and independent protection and privacy policies and, therefore, are not governed by this privacy statement. Consequently, you should exercise caution, as we have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. Nevertheless, since we desire to protect the users of our website, we welcome any feedback about these linked sites.

How do we protect your information? We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and protect private information that we collect online. Our site uses the industry standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol that encrypts personal information being transferred over the Internet.

Your consent. By using our website, you are consenting to our privacy policy.

Contacting us. If you need further information or have questions or concerns about our privacy policy, we will endeavor to provide you with clear answers. If you believe that any information we are holding on you is incorrect or incomplete, please write or email us as soon as possible. You may contact us at: info@aieseclife.org.

Changes to our Privacy Policy. While we have no present intention to make any changes to this AIESEC Life online privacy policy, we may modify this privacy statement at any time. While we will try to notify you of updates in our newsletter or by announcements on our website, to ensure that you are happy with any changes, you may want to check this page from time to time. If we determine the changes are material, we will provide you with additional, prominent notice as is appropriate under the circumstance, such as via email.

Any questions or comments regarding this privacy policy can be directed towards the President of AIESEC Life. If you suspect that your information has been used by an AIESEC Life staff or Board member in violation of this policy, please report it to info@aieseclife.org.
