AIESEC Life is pleased to announce that Andrew Lewis, an alumnus from AIESEC George Washington in the 1990s, will join the Board of Directors as its Treasurer.  Andrew has this to say about his AIESEC experience and why he decided to apply for Treasurer.

“Like most of the people reading this newsletter, AIESEC was a big part of my college years, and it helped me to grow in a lot of meaningful ways.  I served in a number of local and regional roles, did a traineeship in Iceland, learned songs and chants that even today will randomly pop into my mind, and developed some great friendships that still last today.  But most of all, I was able to see how similar we are as individuals across the world, and how important global awareness is in our professional and personal lives. 

In the years since college, I’m been in touch with the local chapter, and helped advertise for AIESEC at my alma mater when I went back to give speeches or career advice.  But I knew that AIESEC deserved and needed more from me than I was giving to it – both in terms of my time and money.  That’s when I resolved to volunteer to be a part of AIESEC Life.  In the short time that I’ve gotten involved, I’ve reconnected with some people who I haven’t seen or talked to in years (and who still continue to impress me, just like they did back in college).  It’s amazing to see that the camaraderie and connection is still there after almost 15 years.”

Andrew currently is a Partner at KPMG LLP, and works primarily in the government audit practice in Washington, DC.  In his thirteen years at KPMG, Andrew has managed, supervised or participated in a number of large and complex federal, state, and local government financial statement audits.  Since 2005, Andrew has been an adjunct professor at GW, and teaches a course on government and not-for-profit accounting and auditing in the Masters of Accountancy program.  He has also helped to advise GW on curriculum and other academic matters.
