Reflections on the Regional Presidents Meeting in Bolivia
RPM in Bolivia was a life changing experience because it not only renovated my connection with AIESEC's bigger vision but also prepared me with tools to empower my LC. This gathering of the current and elected LCPs in the Americas was the ideal conference to understand the situation of the organization, forge valued connections, and strategize for the future.
One of my key objectives pre conference was to observe how others work and understand what drives them to higher levels of operational excellence. Due to some great discussions and GCP sharing, I was able to highlight areas where the USA needs to strengthen our approach and can begin to develop action steps to do so. This atmosphere was great in that there was no sense of competition, just comradeship with free exchange of ideas and support for one another.
The meeting gave immense clarity on how my role needs to be transitioned to my successor. I received practical insights regarding leadership handovers and ways of ensuring continuity in my LC. These learnings will contribute not only toward my successor but towards the sustainability of the organization at large. Also, the motivation and inspiration gained from this conference only made my interest grow in working for future opportunities within AIESEC.
Beyond personal development, RPM was an important factor in helping me advance broader objectives for my LC. Understanding the challenges and opportunities across AIESEC in the Americas enabled me to start the planning of initiatives tailored to improving our operations. Bringing home GCPs will empower my successor to build on these strategies and drive impactful results.
In the end, RPM was a really valuable experience that rejuvenated my commitment to the mission of AIESEC. It has helped to bridge gaps, create actionable plans, and also build a network of like minded leaders that will surely contribute to the growth and success of my LC.
