An incredible group of 27 alumni and their guests gathered in Costa Rica from February 16 to 21 for AIESEC Life's Second Study Tour. Our band of like-minded, multi-generational AIESECers zip-lined through the Arenal rain forest, enjoyed beautiful beaches in Guanacaste, met up with AIESEC Costa Rica, and did a community service project with Hope Center CR. It was a blast from start to finish!

The study tour was a reaffirming experience and reminded all of us why we joined AIESEC in the first place, and why we continue to live an AIESEC Life. We partnered with CR Sports Tours, a local Costa Rican travel company founded and managed by AIESECers. They taught us the meaning of Pura Vida with their warm hospitality. As AIESECers, we perpetuate the belief that peace through business can break down borders and cultural barriers. AIESEC provided us with leadership skills, deep friendships, and a positive worldview – all of which were on full display during our Costa Rica tour. We hope you can join us for our next Study Tour in Chicago from June 24-26! Read more about Chicago below.

The AIESEC Life Team presents a $1135 donation from alumni, and school supplies, to Hope Center CR in San Jose.

Lili Hein, one of AIESEC’s kindest and most dedicated members, passed away on February 9, 2022, at the age of 50.

Lili and her husband, Arthur de Haan, were founding members of AIESEC Life and Lili bravely served as our first executive director from 2009 - 2011. Her leadership brought stability and continuity with her quiet resolve and fierce determination. Lili first joined AIESEC in 1993 at the University of Washington where she was an active LC member. After her graduation, she spent several years in China where she worked to help establish AIESEC chapters and was often referred to as the “mother of AIESEC China.”

It was in AIESEC where Lili met her life partner, Arthur, an AIESEC trainee from The Netherlands, who was working in Seattle. They became proud parents of two sons, Chao and Jay. Lili was a wonderful human being. With her love of people, cultures, and diversity, Lili embodied the AIESEC spirit and represented all of the amazing gifts that AIESEC has given to each of us.

In lieu of flowers, Arthur and his family ask that donations be made to AIESEC at https://aieseclife.org/donations/lili_hein_memorial. An obituary and online memorial in Lili's honor can be found here

Upcoming Virtual Event

Creativity is not a talent. It is a way of operating. Join us online on March 23rd at 5:00pm ET as we debunk the myth that creativity is only about art and self-expression. Brandy Nagel, program manager in economic development at Georgia Tech's Enterprise Innovation Institute, will show us that most of what we accomplish in science, technology, and business comes from divergent thinking and finding new solutions – creativity in its purest form. Brandy works with the Southeast MBDA Inner City Innovation Hub and with universities and communities in the greater Atlanta area, Puerto Rico, Chile, Ukraine, South Korea, and India. She is currently researching the relationships between innovation, entrepreneurship, and creativity and is excited to share her findings with AIESEC alumni. This event is free for paid members, and $10 for non-paid members. Click on the button below to register.
