Alumni enthusiastically gathered for two days of networking, student-mentoring and good ol‘-fashioned fun on August 11th and 12th capping the recent AIESEC U.S. Summer National Conference hosted at the Lisle Hilton, just outside of Chicago. The AIESEC Life reunion kicked off with a Thursday night reception and dinner where attending alumni had the chance to dine with current students from their alma mater and share tales from their glory days while getting updates on the LC activities of today. That night, a new tradition was established! Instead of the students preparing to host the alumni for a party - the alumni prepared a memorable party for the students. Over 10 alumni attendees worked together with the DJ to prepare roll calls to songs from their "eras" of AIESEC to kick off a celebration that would ring in the last night of the conference for the 250+ students in attendance. The result? A fun, interactive, multi-generational celebration that was hailed as a great success and fun night by all.
While the Thursday night festivities certainly started things with an entertaining bang, the Friday activities lent themselves to more substantive conversations and meaningful interactions. In the morning, alumni attended a networking breakfast, received an update from MCP Jeff Chen on the state of AIESEC U.S., and got the scoop on what is happening with AIESEC Life. Later on, approximately a dozen alumni attended the Mentorship Luncheon where 16 students joined us for sandwiches, encouragement and insight on how to move both their LCs and professional futures forward. Following, alumni interested in the AIESEC Life National Hub Initiative gathered together and brainstormed how to further grow the program and make its impact stronger for both alumni and students.
The reunion was capped off by a visit to downtown Chicago where over 20 alumni met on the Navy Pier to set sail on a sunset cruise on beautiful Lake Michigan. A stunning skyline, the perfect summer breeze, and invigorating conversation left this alumna grateful to be a part of such an amazing network of friends and colleagues. Thank you to all who attended and contributed to this event. Who is ready for the next reunion?!
