AIESECers from Four Continents Travel to See the Northern Lights (And Each Other!)
AIESECers Embody “Hei Skål” for Three Decades
A group of AIESEC alumni, who have known each other for more than 30 years, have been vacationing together every few years since 2000. The group, made up of AIESEC US members from ‘87 and ‘89 and AI in '89-’90, have reunited at locations throughout Europe, North America and Asia. Starting initially with attending one another’s weddings, it expanded to group vacations, and ultimately expanded to even include their children. Now they are gathering for the Big 6-0 birthdays happening over the next few years.
Geir (Andresson) Kloever of AIESEC Norway and AI ‘89-’90, put a simple call out on their group chat to see who might be interested in attending a birthday celebration in Oslo. AIESEC Life Board Member Michelle Levesque explained how, “After the pandemic and a canceled group vacation to Colombia in 2020, we all jumped at the chance. Many of us hadn’t been to Norway since Geir and Heidi’s wedding 20 years earlier, so it was a perfect excuse to go back.”
The birthday celebration was held on the beautiful deck of the Fram at the Polar Exploration Museum (https://frammuseum.no/). Geir is the Executive Director of the Fram, which is a must see in Oslo. From there a smaller group headed to Tromsø, 220 miles north of the Arctic Circle. There, they were lucky enough to see the aurora borealis, go on self-driven dog sled rides and see a bit of the sights.
AIESEC attendees represented four continents and included: Gabriela Alvarez, Juan Carlos Ardila, Gustavo Remon, John Kidd, Tom Gooley, Polly Kolotas, Cindy Wessinger, Michelle Levesque, Allison Van der Veer, Michael and Stephanie Stewart, Gerry Burton, Runar Ostmo, Matthew de Villiars, Cissi Ceder, Ulf Larsen, John Ole Skeide, and Geir (Andresson) Kloever.
