CONGRATULATIONS TO SAMANTHA SHELLMAN

Winner of the JoAnn Boland International Scholarship

We are thrilled to announce that the current LCP of AIESEC Colorado, Samantha (Sammie) Shellman, has been awarded the JoAnn Boland International Scholarship.

Sammie, majoring in Computer Science and Psychology, has been in AIESEC for over three years at the University of Colorado. Sammie was a VP and has been LCP for the past year (she has been in AIESEC since before the pandemic). Sammie is a true leader. She has stepped up in numerous ways to help her LC continue to improve and grow.

The JoAnn Boland Fund was established to enable LC members to attend international conferences and to further develop future AIESEC leaders. Congratulations to Sammie on this achievement! We are hopeful she is able to attend an international conference in the near future.

JoAnn Boland was an international leader and throughout her AIESEC career, she focused on the development of AIESEC’s global leaders. The JoAnn Boland International Scholarship Fund was launched in 2000 with contributions dedicated to sponsoring LC members' attendance at international conferences. Since its inception, over 45 scholarships have been awarded.

AIESEC US currently has 16 local committees and roughly 200 members. It is now more important than ever to assist international conference attendance so that more students can benefit from a global conference and bring back the energy, motivation and experience to increase and sustain their own LC.

Maital Kaminer, AIESEC UGA (Georgia), was awarded the JAB award in 2017. She attended Americas Congress 2017 in Peru. “The JoAnn Boland scholarship made my attendance at America's Congress possible, and really opened my eyes to how I could work to be a better AIESECer and leader,” said Kaminer. “It helped me understand the reality of so many of my fellow AIESECers, most of whom I never would have met without this experience. More than anything though, it taught me to never close yourself off to an idea just because you don’t have all the facts.”

Kaminer’s experience is one that is irreplaceable. As travel increases and students are inspired by their peers, the JAB fund hopes to send more abroad in the near future.

Thank you to the AIESEC Life community for continuing to contribute to the JoAnn Boland Scholarship Fund. We will be drawing our raffle winner on April 16! For every $25 donation you make to the JAB Fund from now until April 15, your name will go into a raffle.
