AIESEC Gives More than Just Skills
By Nabil Husni
Hi everyone! I am Nabil, currently living in New Haven, CT. I work as a biostatistician with Tempus AI and the founder of a data consulting firm called Mencakna, where we help organizations utilize their data for good. I started my AIESEC journey as a University Relations Specialist with AIESEC-Madison in Spring 2015. I began to like the organization after attending the Summer National Conference in San Jose in Summer 2015. I applied as VP of Incoming of Global Volunteers (IGV), where we bring volunteers to the US)for our local chapters. In 2016, We were one of the few early local chapters that ran the program and could source volunteers from Latin America for an aquaponic farm in Lodi, WI. After completing my executive term, I was active in becoming the organizing committee for multiple RoKS (regional conferences) and the Winter National Conference in 2017.
AIESEC helped give me the skill set needed to build one of Malaysia's prominent health tech start-ups and the courage to start my own data consulting firm. I've made so many friends from all over the world through AIESEC; the only thing I wished for was to do an exchange. I am finishing my contract with Tempus AI, looking for new job opportunities in healthcare analytics, and providing data analytics services via my firm.
In my free time, I enjoy bouldering, running, swimming, cycling, tennis, learning new languages (I speak six languages), and reading about global health inequity while dabbling into creative writing.
