LC Update
AIESEC Northwestern
Submitted by Evan Ouyang, LCP AIESEC Northwestern
AIESEC Northwestern is going strong. We recruited and onboarded 23 new members this quarter! To further integrate them into the LC, we adopt two approaches: implement a family system and organize AIESEC-wide social bondings. We want to encourage AIESECers to meet members in other functions besides their functional work. We also believe that creating more social value will help us with membership retention.
We are hosting Global Village on November 18th! Global Village is a celebration of the numerous cultures present at Northwestern. During this celebration, many of the cultural student organizations on campus set up booths and showcase some of their culture's history, traditions, and foods. We are planning on collaborating with around eight cultural organizations at NU to partake in this celebration while simultaneously promoting our AIESEC exchange programs and our incoming Global Talent program. We would greatly appreciate any alumni donations to ensure the success of this event. We currently have some university funding, but our event requires additional donations. These will be used to cover food costs for the cultural clubs we are collaborating with for this event.
In addition, we are exploring the idea of having an alumni speak at Global Village about their exchange experience and why it is important for NU students to go on exchange!
Please reach out to Evan at [email protected] or click the button below if you would like to support any of AIESEC Northwestern's endeavors.

AIESEC BABY Joins the AIESEC Life Team
Welcome Michael Jalkio!

Michael Jalkio is a data engineer working on data privacy at Meta. He has spent much of his career working on technology that supports nonprofits. That work has taken him to organizations including Classy, GivingTuesday, Amazon Web Services, and Groundswell.
Michael is an AIESEC baby. His father, Ray Jalkio, was LCP at Hofstra University in 1983 where he met Michael’s mother, Toni (Boscia) Jalkio, a member of the LC. Michael joined AIESEC at Cornell University and served as LCP in 2014. He did exchanges (traineeships) in China and Peru. After graduation, he was part of the MC in Romania.
Michael currently lives in San Diego, California. He enjoys participating in triathlons, walking his dog Zag, and watching recently released movies in theaters.

Only 20 Days Until the Largest
Global Day of Giving
We've already changed our clocks! Set your alarm for Giving Tuesday, November 29!
#GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good.
#GivingTuesday is all about celebrating each and every single act of generosity we have to offer. Whether it’s making someone smile, helping a neighbor out, or showing up for an issue or people we care about, we each have something to contribute.
We can all agree that AIESEC was an important part of our lives. Let's continue to reactivate AIESEC US by supporting them in 2023.Giving by our alumni ensures our commitment to AIESEC US by fulfilling our promise to assist them in conference funding, and also sustains our AIESEC Life alumni programs that were created to bring collaboration, leadership skills, mentoring and much more to AIESEC US.

Celebrate Friendsgiving with AIESEC Life
near YOU!
We have had 2 Alumnite gatherings in the past 3 months, and both were a great time! Let's try to do it again but BIGGER! Join us in a Nationwide "Friendsgiving". We currently have events happening in New York, Chicago and Atlanta in early December. It can be a potluck meal, a happy hour, a picnic, whatever works for you in your area of the country. We want to bring back our social gatherings and reconnect our Alumni. If you would like to organize a Friendsgiving in your city, please let us know so we can help spread the word!
